IGNITE is our nine-day summer intensive that focuses on technique and audition preparation with the CAP Team, college faculty from various colleges, and Broadway veterans who are all ready to pour their knowledge, experience, and inspiration into each student. The day starts early with classes packed with massive amounts of quality training and hands-on application – acting through song, monologue work, vocal technique, audition prep, dance classes, and private one-on-one lessons fill the day. In the evening, students will get creative and participate in harmonizing, choreographing, blocking, and polishing their own IGNITE Showcase songs, scenes, and dances. The week will end with the Ignite Showcase where each student is highlighted for their friends and family. Students leave IGNITE with passion “ignited” in their artistic souls and confidence in their abilities to audition at the highest level! The IGNITE Summer Intensive is open to all rising high school sophomores through GAP year students.
CAP Prep is a two day intensive in November (held in the same location/time as CAP United Auditions) where students take workshops with college faculty from many different programs and Broadway veterans, giving students an opportunity to understand the theater industry at the professional level and become familiar with many college programs and what they offer. CAP Prep students may participate in an acting-through-song class, move straight into a dance workshop, and then jump into a monologue workshop – all before lunch! Students will also have an opportunity to view live CAP United Auditions for a short time, so they can see the process, watch other students audition, and get a feel for what college auditions will look like for them. At the end of this incredible two-day intensive, CAP Prep students will participate in a “mock” audition in front of the CAP Team and various college faculty, after which they will receive written feedback from each mentor who viewed their mock audition. CAP Prep is a powerful way to hone your college audition skills! CAP Prep is open to all high school and Gap year students.
CAP United Auditions is a four day, private audition event in November where around one hundred students who have been individually prepared and chosen by the CAP Team will audition for anywhere from 65 – 75 college theatre programs from around the world. On Thursday, students will meet with the CAP United Auditions pianist, who is the best of the best. We wouldn’t trust our CAP students to anyone else! They will each have an opportunity to run their songs to make sure everything is ready for their auditions. Friday and Saturday each begin with an extensive dance audition, run by a Broadway veteran (CAP students deserve the best!) who gives each student the confidence and the opportunity to shine during their dance audition. After the dance portion, students will move into the song/monologue portion of the audition process where they will audition for all the schools over Friday and Saturday with their FULL 3.5 minute audition package. CAP students will be notified individually of the schools that would like to see them for callbacks and those callbacks can be scheduled throughout the day on Saturday and on Sunday morning. At CAP United Auditions, we pride ourselves in creating a culture of positivity, professionalism, creativity and family. We believe in the unique value that each CAP student brings to these auditions and help them find their authentic, artistic voice. With these core values and standards, CAP United Auditions is the most powerful audition event for students and colleges. Our goal is to connect phenomenal college programs with incredibly talented students in an environment that supports the artistic industry we all know and love!
at College Audition Project, we know that many students have fabulous teachers who have helped them hone their skills and we want our CAP students to continue working with their wonderful teachers! We are here to supplement that instruction through the college audition process and guide students through all the questions and stresses that can arise during the audition season. In some cases, students do not have access to intensive arts training in their area and, for those students, we offer technical training in voice, acting, material selection, resume creation, prescreen and audition preparation, and even dance instruction. You can choose the CAP Membership that meets your specific needs. With every membership, there is access to our extensive audition information and college database on the CAP website where students can easily research over 150 college programs from around the world, create their list of schools, and track their progress in the audition process. In addition, the CAP Team hosts monthly Townhall meetings (live online) where the CAP Team can share the latest updates about prescreens, auditions, applications, financial aid, industry news, etc and students and their parents can ask any questions that they need help with. The CAP Team is there to support CAP students and their family throughout the audition year. We care about our CAP families and look forward to welcoming you as you begin this exciting journey!
